About the Award
The #BuildingARTyeg award recognizes and celebrates industry professionals who bring life, character, and art to our neighbourhoods through exceptional infill projects. The award showcases industry professionals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, creativity, and innovation in designing, building or advocating for infill projects in Edmonton. The award is a collaboration between Alair Homes and IDEA, aiming to recognize leaders in Edmonton who exemplify excellence in the field of infill construction.

Why Participate?
This is your chance to showcase your dedication to infill excellence, and your commitment to celebrating Art in our communities - an unparalleled dedication to enhancing Edmonton’s identity.
The winner will be awarded both the #BuildingARTyeg award and a cash prize of $7,500 to be used towards a community improvement project in Edmonton (a community garden, greenspace initiative, ice rink, playground, etc.) that furthers your commitment to creating beauty in our communities.

The Fine Print - Eligibility & Selection Requirements
Eligibility:
The award is open to all industry professionals, including but not limited to architects, builders, developers, urban planners, and advocates, who have been involved in infill projects within the city of Edmonton.
The projects under consideration must be infill developments that enhance the urban landscape, adhere to relevant zoning and building codes, and contribute positively to the surrounding community.
Projects must have been completed (inclusive of occupancy permit and landscaping) within a specific timeframe to be eligible for consideration: no earlier than August 1, 2022 and no later than August 31, 2023.
The projects under consideration must not be affiliated with members of the #BuildingARTyeg Award Committee
The projects under consideration must be affiliated with companies that are based in Edmonton or its immediate surrounding area.
The projects under consideration must be affiliated with companies that are members of IDEA.
Selection Criteria:
Excellence in Design: The nominated projects should showcase innovative, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable designs that complement the existing urban fabric while addressing contemporary urban challenges.
Quality of Construction: The award emphasizes the importance of superior craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the use of high-quality materials in the construction of infill projects.
Community Impact: Consideration will be given to projects that demonstrate a positive impact on the local community, such as improving amenities, fostering social interactions, and enhancing the overall livability of the area.
Industry Impact: Consideration will be given to projects that demonstrate a positive impact on local businesses that are part of the industry (ie. suppliers, service contractors) .
Sustainability and Environmental Consciousness: Projects that demonstrate environmentally responsible practices, energy efficiency, and a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint will be highly regarded.
Innovative Approaches: The award seeks to honor projects that have adopted innovative approaches, technologies, or methodologies to overcome challenges related to infill development.
