SPEAKERS:

With over two decades of experience in stakeholder engagement and corporate communications, Andrew Laycock looks to be a bridge between EPCOR’s electric utility business unit and Edmonton’s developer/builder community. Andrew looks to advocate for a balance between facilitating smart city building and prudent financial stewardship. Having moved to the city in 20223, he proudly calls Edmonton his home and is excited for the opportunities he sees here for his family.

Jeff Hunter is the Senior Manager of Development and Infill within the newly formed Customer Operations business unit of EPCOR Water Services. The Development and Infill Team work closely with customers, developers, governments and contractors to deliver water, sanitary and stormwater services for new construction, retrofit and infill projects. With over 15 years experience in the utilities sector, Jeff's focus is on maintaining a constructive relationship with the Edmonton development community, and continually improving EPCOR's internal processes to ensure a positive customer experience from the application stage to project delivery.

Keaton came to UAPT after serving nearly seven years with the City of Beaumont in public works, technology, and project management leadership roles.

He completed a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta and received his P. Eng. designation while working in land development prior to his time in Beaumont.  He also has his PMP designation through PMI.  Project management best practices are important to Keaton as they lay a foundation for successful projects.  Areas of significant experience and expertise are in land development, technology implementation, project management, and construction management.

As a natural leader, the Trust values Keaton’s exceptional ability to manage complex projects and build technology-leveraged solutions that allow streamlining. He is excited about the mission of the UAPT and being able to contribute. Keaton is enthusiastic about designing and developing spaces that Edmontonians will cherish for generations to come. Joshua Schmaltz is a Professional Civil Engineer with over 11 years of municipal engineering and project management experience. Joshua has experience in public engagement, financial management, detailed design, and project delivery. His past projects have covered a wide range of municipal and community development projects, including greenfield land development, neighbourhood rehabilitation, arterial roadways, and buildings. Joshua actively focuses on delivering sustainable project outcomes that satisfy scope, budget, schedule, and quality control requirements.

Moderator:

Jason is an experienced Project Manager with a solid track record of successfully executing large capital projects in the utilities and pipelines industries, specializing in infrastructure renewal and replacement projects.

His strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills support the ability to create and develop effective project teams that execute projects and programs with multiple stakeholders, complex technical requirements and demanding timelines.

He is committed to and driven by a desire for continual improvement and empowering coworkers and team members to develop and grow their performance.
